One of the biggest festivals of the island of Porto Santo Is celebrated in honour of Our Lady of Grace, in the Chapel of Our Lady of Grace, dating from the 16th century.
This chapel is one of the oldest churches built in Porto Santo before 1533. It was destroyed in 1812 and rebuilt in 1951.
It is closely linked to the island's history and it was here that many of the inhabitants took refuge from pirates.
